I recently graduated from law school in the Midwest in the spring of 2024 with a 3.3 GPA and passed the New York bar exam. I’m licensed to practice in a foreign country which is a common law jurisdiction and have experience in high-stake deals in corporate practice and real estate transactions. I’m currently seeking an entry-level associate position at a law firm in New York, Chicago, DMV, Texas. If anyone is hiring, aware of any opportunities, or has any leads or advice, I would appreciate it.

If you can’t find opportunities in big law, I recommend looking into mid-size firms. Rosenberg & Estis is a great mid-size real estate firm in New York. Avoid Herrick Feinstein.

Also, I would find the chair of the real estate group at the firms you’re interested in and email them directly expressing your interest in their firm and sort of asking for a informal interview. When I was exiting my clerkship, that’s how I got my interviews (and even now as a lateral from big law). For someone coming out of law school, a headhunter is not going to be helpful. Firms can get someone your level without a price tag.

Do you have advice on how to interview better with Amazon?

My résumé and portfolio are great, and I’ve been asked to interview with Amazon for 4 different teams now. However, it seems like I’m not making it past the first 1:1 interview. 3 out of 4 have resulted in not the right fit for reasons unknown; they don’t provide any feedback either. I have been invited for a new interview today with another team, and I am hoping 4th time is the charm. Any tips on how to do better next time?

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? In case it is helpful, I come from a civil law country. Thanks!

Hi, weird question for this forum, so I apologize. I’m trying to be creative here and use the tv stand that I have. The issue is that it has an open back so you can see all my tv wires. I can’t hide the wires because my building won’t let me open the wall. My idea was to slip a tile sheet that is wall behind the tv stand as a back, but I need the tile cut to the specific heigh and width of the tv stand. Does anyone know where I can take this tile sheet to get cut to the specific measurements?
