Stick with the more stable role is my recommended advice. You do not wanna be unemployed in this current job market. It is a living hell.
I was only unemployed for 3 months after getting laid off which is actually pretty good compared to the storied lengths I see across the tech industry. Some have been looking for a job for a year or longer. It’s rough out there.
I'd stay put if I were you. The grass definitely isn't always greener, and that extra salary won't mean much if you end up unemployed in 6 months. Sounds like you've got a great opportunity to move up where you are currently. I'd go with that.
Like I think I might but budget could cause me not too
The other company's recent financial trouble is cause to pause. If your current company has been good to you and seems to value enough to consider you for promotion, stick with them. When you get the promotion, your salary may be close to the same as the poaching company. Remember that if you change companies, you go back to the bottom of the promotion ladder.
What if it’s a 45-50% chance of getting the promotion?
