I used to freelance at a small in-house studio for a hospitality group and learned that the CD got fired. He contacted me about a new “side project" and I learned he wants me to make his portfolio.

He was pretty stressful to work for and he has no technical skills, which is why he needs help. He also would claim credit for everything and said he made everything that us designers made. What do you guys think about this? I feel it’s like he’s paying someone to do his homework for him, since a portfolio is such a personal piece of work

Drive 4 hours to client site or fly with a connection (total commute time ~5 hours)? I'd get about 400 in mileage per week from mileage but obviously 4 hours in a car sucks and I'd lose 1k status.

Hi, I'm looking to connect with a Product Designer who can help mock up some rough concepts into wire frames for a side project I'm exploring. Ideal profile is someone who is familiar with social apps and ideally into politics. This is an especially great fit for a young designer looking to build their portfolio. I will be paying $$ for their time. Plz DM if interested or have leads.

Tax/Withholding question: I make ~100k, my work withholds about 20% on my base, and over 30%whenever I get a bonus (actually) My wife makes about 150k, her work withholds 27% on her base, and over 35% on her bonuses (bi-weekly) Standard deductions, we live in NJ. Is this normal, should we adjust any withholdings? What would our refund (if any) look like? Any and all advice is appreciated—thanks!!
