I used to pride myself on being calm. But lately, my stress is leaking out in ways I do not like — snappy replies, blank stares, missed breaks. How do you really know when it is time to stop and recover?

Can I lead it back to one issue that’s making me like that, or is it just a lot of issues pooling in? When it is the latter, that’s when I try to step back and take a break. If it’s just one issue, I focus on that first and then figure out the rest.

I tend to lump everything together, so breaking it down like that might help me stop spiralling.

It's just a matter of getting used to working under stress. If you find yourself slipping and acting unprofessionally, take a beat, take a deep breath, and get it together. Especially the snappy replies, we're all used to working against deadlines and people sometimes getting a little rattled. But if you make a habit of that it won't work out well for you. The north star should be something along the lines of grace under pressure.

You are absolutely right about grace under pressure. Sounds basic but very hard in practice

We all have off days, bad days after bad nights sleep, but I suppose it's consistency. How long it hapens for, is it more than once a week? Is it everyday?

Seems to be almost every other day at the moment 😕

This is going to sound really weird but I know when I’ve been extra stressed because my eyes start twitching and I start to grow grey hairs from my head… I don’t know if they’re related at all but I usually take that as a sign to relax more and take time for myself

In a new job and my manager saw through my impostor syndrome. He said it out loud that I need to work on my confidence and overcome my insecurity.
I constantly feel like I’m surrounded by people smarter than me and I doubt myself a lot. I’m scared everyone sees through my impostor syndrome and feel horrible about myself.

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? I’ve never been in a position to bargain my starting salary so this is all very new to me.

How do you deal with the following - 1) lack of general organization in life, note taking, keeping track of your relationships and 2) attention to detail. These 2 things have been bothering me a lot. Also I feel the lack of organization in personal life blows into professional as well. If you are a consultant how do u deal with it ?

Why the heck do Recruiters and Hiring managers do such a poor job keeping applicants informed to the status. I had my time wasted with an opportunity for a fortune 100 position for 3 1/2 months. Phone Screens, Zoom Interview with hiring manager, Face to face with hiring manager. (Then asked for professional references) , impromptu Zoom meet with other leader who was completely disengaged. Then boom... six weeks of silence vague texts from hiring manager they were still going thru the process..

The argument that climate change is not man-made has been disproven by science over and over again, yet many people believe that the global crisis is either not real, not of our making, or both, in part because the news media deliberately chooses not to talk about it because it doesn't sell enough.

"Don't Look Up" is as real as it can be.

Greetings from Madison, Wisconsin. I'm a reporter with more than 32 years of experience and I feel that, lately, local television news has been kind of dead, but I am pleased to fight for it from my local newspaper. Locals love to see someone from their own town succeeding or finding out something inspiring.

I am a firm believer that this will not change for a long time, local TV will continue to live as long as we stand for it.

Additional positions are opening up as contracts are either broken or expire.
