I want to get into IB. I have worked on financial models and have some experience on deal side. When I go on career pages, I see so many roles I don’t even know where to start. Is there not a simple “M&A” role? Is there specific IB lingo that I do not know about? Is the “break into IB” window when you finish business school?

I have been working in the TMT sector in finance for 8 months and I am looking to vecome more knowledgeable in this new sector (tech sales). 3 YOE in Marketing through internships in college, followed by 2 years Financial Operations/Data Tools full-time. I got an offer for $75K at TekSystems for a Market Analyst role. I gave them a range of $70-75K, so they gave the max. But I am questioning asking for a bit more given insurance is apparently on the higher-end and I want to ensure I didn't low-ball myself.

Just to note, this is about a 25% increase compared to what I am currently making.

I'll be applying for a Service Desk manager position in the coming months. I'm looking to get a realistic salary range (online ranges vary drastically). I have 7 years experience in IT end user support. 4 years of these 7 years include having direct reporting employees in a supervisory role.

I’m not too familiar with the NYC market, pls help. Interviewing for a senior copywriter role at a healthcare agency. Was told the avg salary for the role is 85-90. Seems low, right? If we get to an offer stage, what should I be shooting for? 6 years experience.

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? I’m currently in FP&A and looking to work at a Big 4, or another company that offers the ability to move abroad. My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.

Thoughts on “special” salary grades. I just found out the VP I was offered is not a grade 12 like most comparable roles (verified). Also not an 11, but an 11A. Slightly higher than an 11, a good bit lower than a 12. All due to the fact that it’s a leap from my current position. Why should that matter…..shouldn’t it pay what it should pay if I am selected, rather that curving down towards my current rate?

Do any of the top consulting firms hire into the Engagement Manager level after an M7 (if they had manager experience elsewhere)? I know MBB probably doesn’t but what about other tier 2 firms after that - and asking for US or Canada
