I was a Financial Accountant with more than 10+ years experience, and was being furloughed 3 weeks ago because of federal fund cut. During this time I had more than 10 interviews for Sr Accountant/Managers/Controller but all failed except for one that is the position of Staff Accountant which is 30K lower than the last one. Should I take it for now or keep looking. Since I don 't have health insurance now and this one lower pay provides free health insurance for the employees.

Is that still a thing primarily handled by big, coastal agencies? Any tips on how to find brand-centric roles like that?

Let's say I'm selling a house that has appreciated in the past year. If the buyer does an appraisal and it comes back under, are we screwed? What can I do to mitigate this situation? Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
