I was called into HR because a coworker overheard a conversation between me and another colleague taking about cable/streaming shows that we watched or recorded. I mentioned that I recorded a few true-crime shows. My colleague jokingly said, "I hope I'm not on your hit-list!". I replied, "Not anymore." HR pulled me in to say a coworker complained about me talking about hit-lists, and they were now scared. HR wouldn't say who complained, so do I have a right to ask about the resolution to this?

Yes you can ask about a resolution. They won’t share who complained because it opens up for claims of retaliation so, it’s also better you don’t know who complained, because if that person is that sensitive to a remark made as a joke, then if you do anything, they can say you’d be retaliating against them. Frustrating for sure, but I’d ask HR what the outcome is from the conversation. They most likely needed to tell you since the person came forward and this was most likely a heads up that someone doesn’t like these types of jokes.

The perfect example of HR mentality. HR is for people Who just want the paycheck and don't want to actuallyWork.

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I am currently unemployed (but looking) an opportunity to consult has potentially fallen into my lap. Before I shut it down for a lack of experience, I want to know if it's something that I can even do. It's a very very small company, not even 3 FTE. But they are looking for someone to come in, create a Handbook(I can do that), provide benefits, etc.

Is that difficult to implement? I can't imagine it being so, but I don't want to set myself up to fail.

I have had a 60%+ increase in volume from this time last year, but we have not had a new hire in my role to assist with the influx. Additionally, others in my department are overworked and they're delegating down to me.

So not only do I gave more work than ever, I'm doing tasks outside my original role
