Hey Fishes,
Require urgent suggestions
I will be joining Oracle Financial Services Software(OFSS) and I am worried about job security considering the layoffs that will be happening in Oracle as per below link:

Require suggestions on whether it would be a wise call to move to OFSS now.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I’ve had similar situations happen to me more than once in my career. Each person that behaved in an unethical/deceitful manner eventually had a big fall. Karma always balances the books it just doesn’t always do it as quickly as we would like. Try to trust that karma’s got this and focus your energy on self care and rebuilding.
I’m sorry you’re going through this. There is no good reason. Our business is fickle and most of the people who make these decisions are unscrupulous assholes. Try and move through it and move on.
I had similar situation... honestly just live and enjoy your life and forget about that shit. You don't have to forgive but try to forget. Good luck and sorry it happened.
I know it’s hard to do but learn to sit with the anger from the unfair thing that happened and eventually you won’t feel as bogged down by it anymore. I had a situation that was super traumatizing and made me feel like the world was falling out from under me and it helped me to learn how to control how I felt when I couldn’t control anything else. The best revenge is to do well for yourself.
I was laid off six months ago because I did not get along with an VP, Account Director. A lot of it was politics and I felt (and am still) a little jaded about it. But, the second it happened, I got rid of my apartment, put my stuff in storage and booked a one way flight to Europe. I was able to take some time off, travel for a couple months and now I’ve found a job at a company that I absolutely love.
Things like this happen for a reason. It might not be a good reason, but think of it as an opportunity to shake things up. I hope it turns around, as UXD1 said... the best revenge is to do well for yourself.
I feel you. Going through the same thing. I’m lucky to have the support of some many people at the company and have faith that karma is a bitch. The company let go of a really bad ass employee because of someone higher up who’s royally fucking up the business. Eventually that will be seen and recognized. (All they have to do is read the many exit interviews and open the books) Luckily I value the opinion of my co-workers and fellow producers over useless HR people and a terrible, absent and manipulative supervisor. Good luck, may we both end up a killer agencies who value our work!

It’s never to go through this. I can remember being laid off from my first job out of college. I was out of work for over six months and had a wife and three kids under 5 to support. (Long story, so let’s move on from that.)
I spent 6 months replaying the conversations that led up to and the day of my layoff and it tormented me. Plus I was not having any luck finding another job. It seemed like no one was hiring or I was not what they were looking for. There’s no other way to put it other than it sucked!!
But as saying goes, “time heals all wounds”. Plus, dwelling on the past doesn’t help you lock down that next adventure that will be better. And trust me, it will be.
Focus on how to sell yourself. Prepare how to talk to your strengths and weaknesses and go get it! Use this experience to help you better appreciate what’s important in your career and life.
Go change the world!
Maybe it wasn’t ridiculous bullshit.
@SC1 Oh, it unquestionably was. Everyone I talked to was furious when they heard it. I can’t let them off easy based on everything they did to me just to feel better because I would feel like I’ve lost my integrity.
Worst answer I know, but time. I still haven’t totally recovered from my first bad position. It’s been four years. But in time you’ll feel confident in yourself and realize it wasn’t a fit and be able to move forward
I am sorry you have to go through this. Sending you good energy.
Two pieces of advice:
1) Focus on accomplishing something non-work related like learning a language or get really good at a new sport like running. It will build your self confidence, give you something to talk about other than losing your job and make you appear more confident in interviews.
2) Write something meaningful on a piece of paper and stick it on your bathroom mirror so that you see it every time you look in the mirror. Suggestion: “Resentment is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die”.
And remember you will eventually find a job and get back on track. Just keep saying that to yourself, like a mantra, every time you feel down.
@SeniorStrategist: I had a similar situation recently at another agency that I believe was partially agitated by my then boss having issues with assertive women of color, but moving back home wasn’t an option. I had a hard time getting over the injustice as well, and wasted money talking to lawyers. But when I finally let it go, a more rewarding opportunity presented itself and I was able to move on. That’s when I realized that the unpleasant situation I was in before was Life pushing me to a better place. It’s happened before. Good things are in store for you. Just keep pushing through.
