Microsoft Received some feedback yesterday that I’m “Too smart for the role and they feared that I’d get bored and leave quickly. “ It’s honestly the most confused I’ve ever left a call. Does anyone know what this means? I thought it was a compliment initially but in retrospect it just doesn’t seem very genuine. Have y’all had anyone hit you with this one?

Honestly, idk what data sources you’re looking at, but if they are saying that Boston, LA etc are in the same league as SF, they’re just plain inaccurate. Go online and actually look at renting a place in the bay. 3K gets you a tiny apartment nothing special, + hundreds in parking each month. And everything else is just plain expensive in the bay. $10 each time you cross the bridge, $50 for the “cheap” parking lot, etc.
I can compare it to other HCOL places I have lived such as Seattle and LA. Where you get a decent small place for 2K plus parking, etc. (I haven’t lived in Boston but it appears similar to Sea and LA). SF is a step above those other HCOL places for sure.

Definitely harder to find something in Boston. NYC seems to be in league of its own.

Have you compared cost per sq ft. Rent could be higher in total but maybe you are getting larger apartments. So you are getting more space for you money. Not saying your analysis is wrong maybe just something to consider if you are looking at total rent.
I'm not from any of these places. But I am a badass 😎
Rent is only a part of COL though. You might want to factor in food, things to do, etc
Yes it’s a big part but there’s also child care, healthcare, transportation, etc. They all do add up and homes are waaay more expensive here (SF) than Boston.
The issue is that there is a housing crisis across the country. Rent and home prices have skyrocketed. Remote work has led to people leaving HCOL cities and driving up prices in what was previously LCOL or MCOL. Then you add inflation….woof. I will say, market raises are not keeping up.
Think this is it. But everyone seems to be relying on their own biases led by SM1s 2019 data.

what city in the U.S. besides NYC?
Hoboken has become very expensive I don’t know what you mean lol. Years ago it was considered the affordable way to do NYC, not anymore.
