I was scheduled for a video interview, and I thought that meant I would be meeting with someone over Zoom. It turns out, when they said video interview, they meant it. It was an interview where I was given a question and had five minutes to record my answer and move on to the next question. It was uncomfortable, and I rushed through my answers. I hate this type of interviewing. Why do companies think this is the better method to evaluate someone?

I've had that happen too and it looks like they're saying I don't value your time but my time is important and if I don't like the way you look and sound then I'm not going to call you back, I think it's sheep dip. I write them back in a very polite way and I let them know that my time is valuable and I understand that their time is valuable too and if we can't meet in a video interview to have an exchange of instead of a one-sided video for me, I'm probably not the candidate they're looking for.

In my experience, most reputable companies start with a phone screen. The one way video doesn't provide me with anything. I'm a highly trained and experienced sales rep. I find a one way video request insulting.

Too many to interview, but you get a chance to shine. So as my high school drama and vocal coach taught “This is no time for humility & modesty –IT IS SHOWTIME!” Tell mostly about where EXCEL. I need five minutes to tell that alone!

I love this perspective and I totally agree! Use it to your advantage.

You will need to get used to it, because since the pandemic, many companies screen you, before you get a chance to even get a Zoom video. You may in fact have to go through a series of them before they call you in.
There are some apps, and if you practice with AI, it can help you with these types of interviews so you do not tense up since you do not really know what they are going to throw at you.
Good luck.

AI has been more amazing than I thought it would be – – immediate answers, counsel, the details of which will stun you!

Asynchronous video interviews have become very common. HireView is frequently the platform of choice.

Companies prefer this format for a first round interview for convenience.

I love it for the first round, and you can move more quickly because you aren't trying to line up people's schedules.

The recruiter should have told you the format.

Its called lazy. They look at it in their own good time I refuse those video interviews screw them

Q: for FAANG recruiters, do candidates get a reject stamp after failing even at the later stages?
I advanced to the last stage at
Facebook (Meta) around a year ago but failed on my last interview, a combination of not being familiar with the process and not having chemistry with the interviewer.
A friend who is a hiring manager recently recommended me and this time without even a HR call I received a straight up thanks but no thanks email.
Does this mean I’ve been permanently black listed?
