I don’t add people that I’ve interviewed with until after I start working at the company. However, I have added recruiters during the interview process.
I always add them if I feel the interview went well enough for me to feel we’ve made an impression on each other whilst in conversation. You can not get the job for various reasons, but if you made a good impression the LI contact is a good one to have.
If the roles were reversed, I’d welcome the opp to keep in touch as long as the interviewee wasn’t a jerk / clearly under qualified.
Yes. If I tell a candidate I’m interviewing to add me, and they do, I always accept. I like the initiative. They might not always get the job right that second, but it’s a small world and it never hurts to meet good people. If they’re a good candidate, and another job comes up, it’s also easier to reach out.
