I was told I had passed all interview stages for senior consulting role at Deloitte London in September, but they couldn’t give me an offer yet as there was some sort of internal reviews going on. The hiring manager calls me every month usually to say there isn’t much to update but that they have agreed to my salary expectations, and that I might be getting an offer in February/March but they can’t 100% guarantee it - is anyone else placed in this weird on hold/limbo situation?

Hello, hoping for some input on how to time a job change. At a startup - we are doing well now but unless we have complete turnover in management I don’t think we have a bright future post-COVID. I could coast here 1-2 years before having to look. I’ve been here for a little under a year. This is my second in house job after 10 years at the same firm. The market is hot now, probably won’t be in 1-2 years and I am getting interest for good roles. OTOH I don’t want to look like a job hopper.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients).
