The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?
What…..

No. You are likely too cost effective to let go, especially if you've been around for 12 months or more.
That sucks. Maybe just internal politics. At one job I had I found the execs who got along with the direct reports more than the other execs would get pushed out, and then the replacements would join the exec echo chamber. Strata preservation.

Nope.
🔮 The CRO probably got fired for the same reason I fired a couple of them - the company wasn’t hitting its sales targets, while he was taking home a salary potentially bigger than the CEO. He sounds charming, as is every CRO I’ve met.
If he feels he got the short end of the stick he might say “the product isn’t ready/wrong price/lacks features”. And he would be right.
I’ve never worked on a team that produced a product that was perfect enough for salespeople to sell
This is right on target. I haaaaate working with CROs.
if for making up revenue then a lot of you might be..

Nah, just show how you're pulling your weight despite the CRO's poor strategy and/or management.
Probably not immediately, but get ready to formally justify your team's existence to new management. Since you're not running your own P&L, this will just be showing your value add less formally. Essentially a review of projects and KPIs. You'll want to bring good numbers and explanations for them, and advocacy from other teams (both in and outside your org). There's also a good chance new management will be interim management, in which case you'll need to do this a few times.
