I watched a colleague calmly fix something I would've definitely made worse.

It reminded me how much we rely on each other every day.

Who's someone in your team who deserves a quiet thank you?

If things work well, a team effort makes everyone's work better. And more readable. I've had copy editors who I have appreciated over the years. And when I worked for a magazine, there were two fact checkers who kept me from embarrassing myself. One of the tragedies of the venture capital destruction of journalism has been the loss of those sorts of jobs, the people who didn't get a lot of praise but kept everything operating at a high level.

Totally agree. The quiet backbone of good publishing is often invisible. I’ve been saved more than once by an eagle-eyed editor or fact checker. It’s heartbreaking how many of those roles have vanished in the rush for “lean” operations.

Every marketing company I work for has an 18 year old trainee or entry level worker who knows more about the tech than people who have been working on it for years!

I’ve seen interns troubleshoot tools seasoned staff still struggle with. It’s a great reminder that fresh eyes and curiosity can be just as valuable as experience—especially in tech-heavy workflows.

Love this. I've got a teammate who always spots the small things before they become big things. Never loud about it, just quietly saving the day. Definitely owe them more than one thank you.

Those people are gold.

Our IT department are the silent heroes, always fixing everything whenever something goes wrong

Hi everyone,

I'm going for a role for Account Director and have gone through the interviews with the head of accounts, BD as well as the ECD's. I received the following email at the end of the day:

"You are one of two candidates in the final round.

One thing we haven’t spoken about are your salary expectations. Could you have a think and let me know early next week as well as your employment status (residency permit)."

What would be the best way to answer this response? Appreciate the help

Hello, I wanted to mention that I work as a sports commentator, specifically about soccer. I used to be one of the main journalists for Spanish media, but since I moved to Miami I feel the general passion for soccer is very different 🥲 The energy and commitment are not even close to what I felt in Spain, where some businesses would close if the match was too important. I hope this nostalgia goes away soon.

The argument that climate change is not man-made has been disproven by science over and over again, yet many people believe that the global crisis is either not real, not of our making, or both, in part because the news media deliberately chooses not to talk about it because it doesn't sell enough.

"Don't Look Up" is as real as it can be.
