Make the decision on baby without thinking about work. Your leaves won’t be that close together and plenty of people have multiple kids. It’ll be fine.
Echo what’s been said above.
Just to put things in perspective - I was laid off from the first job when I was pregnant and second company closed when I was on maternity leave. No company is going to take care of you.
Just joining to agree with everything. If you want a baby, try to have a baby and don’t worry about how it is perceived. Your job will never love you back, and you also have no idea long it might take to conceive

I second EY1 - you should make decisions based on what's best for your family and not the company.
Thanks everyone! 🫶🏻 it really is reassuring that my family should be my priority.
I had my second 3 days before before my 1st turned 2. I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s usually expected you’re going to have more than 1 kid - whether you do that back to back or with 5 years in between doesn’t matter.
I took 1 year maternity leave (in UK) and then was pregnant 2 months after returning to work. If my employer has a problem with that, then it’s not somewhere I want to work
Career will always be there, fertile years will not
Our first turned one recently and I’m already 5 months in… am I worried about telling my employer. Yes. Am I gonna enjoy those 9-10 months off. Yes.
I had a similar question I asked in the Deloitte bowl. Everybody said to always put your family first. I felt no regrets after I put in my leave. For context I did the same for two kids and was nervous of taking a third maternity leave especially being at the firm for 3.5 years
