I went through several long interview rounds for an in-house role, and near the end of the process I was given a fairly extensive writing assignment that felt surprisingly complicated and time-consuming. I know company wants to assess issues spotting and writing skills. But I am curious about it now, is it normal to have complicated and excessive take home assignments?

I really want to get a second job but I am scared of losing my current one. Both companies are in same field, although not direct competitors so I know it’s technically “not allowed” however, this is the only way for me to get that $$ since I am not paid all that well.

Of course I won’t tell a single friend/coworker. Only my partner. And I don’t post work stuff on social media.

I am looking for a new job at the end of a long career. I have excellent experience in IP and Supply Chain Management. I've been fortunate to be in a high-paying position in the Los Angeles area and I rarely see comparable positions posted. The comparable positions at my company are filled by one of the big executive search firms. I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week.
