I work in a 7-attorney firm with a national presence. Partly because I’m only a few months in, I work a roughly 8-6 day. I’m also new to billing and often find myself working all day and billing just 4 hours. Whenever I bring this up to the partner, he says it’s good we’re not over billing our client. We don’t have minimum billable hours so it doesn’t matter much for the firm’s sake but I think I’m missing out on learning the important skill of billing my time. Has anyone ever experienced this?

So I was a 5th year associate in nyc making 100 k a year 2k billable hours.. I decided to leave for the role Im in now.. my old countered to keep me at 115k (which was like pulling teeth for them) but I left anyways now I find out that they offered a 7th year 150 k and a partner title should I be offended that they didn’t even try more with me

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?

Any advice on how to shift from agency to client side? Any resume pointers would be much appreciated.

Pro se plaintiff, an attorney, filed a complaint alleging mold defects after closing on a property. Client, layperson, may have agreed orally to a settlement amount without proof of damages prior to filing appearance and obtaining an attorney. Client filed appearance pro se, then plaintiff sent over a draft settlement agreement few weeks later which client didn’t sign. Client then got an attorney, filed answer, etc. Can this oral agreement be voided for coercion, indefinite mat’l term, etc?

When settling with a title company plaintiff on a subrogation claim, have any foreclosure defense counsel received settlements over and above policy limits? What is your typical settlement range? How has settling on your subrogation claim negatively affected your counterclaims against the mortgage lender if at all?

Conflicts checks question: thinking about making a move from small(ish) firm to a larger one. How detailed will a conflicts list need to be? Haven’t switched jobs since law school, so at a little bit of a loss about the whole process!
