Being of service to others is what I turn to when I'm venturing down the path of feeling purposeless. You can never go wrong by being helpful.
Get a dog. They give you purpose, a reason to live, so much love and happiness. Whenever I’m feeling like idk if I can take it anymore, knowing my dog depends on me always snaps me back and creates a sense of gratitude. How lucky I am to have this loving goofy furball in my life.
Same. I also have the mindset of Director 1 but I feel exactly this.
I feel like it’s all I do for a try to be there for others, I just feel like I badly need a little nourishment myself - and yet everyone around me seems like they need / and has not capacity to give
I have felt the same time to time, but the feeling goes away if I immerse myself in travel or work or some romantic interest. Your negative thoughts can be your biggest enemy, keeping a positive mind is very important. One thing you can try is to practice gratitude when you feel low. Hope you feel better 🔜
You’re in the LGBTQ forum. Our siblings are struggling.
A1, enough with this virtue signaling. Nobody is denying anybody’s struggle here. Can you just pause and be supportive of a fellow gay man that is sharing their own struggle here?
Feel the same way. I’m doing consulting too… wonder if you’re on an equally terrible engagement (AI promises + Layoffs) and feel icky about it too
May I suggest therapy. Even the employee assistance programs are beneficial. It’s confidential.
ChatGPT exhausts me, just go in never ending circle
1. Are you taking care of your physical health? including sleep, exercise, nutrition, avoiding drugs and excess alcohol
2. Are you making time for meaningful relationships? Family, friends, etc
3. Do you like your job? Do you have some wlb?
4. Therapy and or/medication can be a lot of help
It’s okay to feel like this for a little, we all do at some point. Sometimes it’s just a weird phase but sometimes it’ll take some action on your part to change the circumstances.
Actually yes to all those and that’s why I feel so useless- there is not “maybe if I fix this” anymore:( . Im single , middle aged, bored of most activities , no goals that excite me anymore, hobbies that stimulate me much . Nothing . I just feel like im waiting for the day to end everyday :/
Help someone in need.
You have to be brutally honest with yourself. What is REALLY important to you? That is your starting point.
OP Work through the steps. You’re smart. Be ready to make HARD decisions about where you live, what you do, and who you know. It’s scary to break out of what we’re used to doing. I’m older but made big fixes at around age 40. Try to talk with people who have done what you hope to do. Make a plan. *hug*
When was the last time you felt happy?
