I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

Is there anyone who can advise me for Qatar?
Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??

I was in a group where the creative director openly bragged about the clients hating him.
Surprise! They put the account up for review.
In the defense (at our office), my partner and I pitched the first concept. By the end of our dog and pony, we had the clients cheering and taking selfies with us. We sat down thinking we’d beaten the odds and saved the account.
And then - to our shock - out of nowhere, that CD steps into the room just in time to tag-team the next two concepts with the ECD.
You could just feel the energy get sucked out of the room.
And... we lost.
That’s heartbreaking. So much goes into pitching (adrenaline, long nights, stress...) that the internal sabotage is just demoralizing What made them want to take selfies with you (sincerely asking - would love to know how you got them so excited!)?
Maybe they are pals with someone in the agency who is protecting them. See it all the time.
Yes, this is exactly what was happening. We lost the account btw
Are you just blaming one person? It’s weird for me think one person is at fault. Does the work not get filtered through the creative and the account team?
The buck has to stop somewhere. And the CD of an account is a good place. Own it.
I’ve seen creative directors get asked off of multiple accounts. 4 different accounts. And yet they were promoted instead of fired. It’s all about who wants you to succeed. Not about how good you are
FWIW, I’ve taken myself off accounts where I thought that was the greater good for the client, the assignment, and the team. But you need a situation where that’s possible and that’s not very common. Being able to retain talent, even if they get voted off a specific client island, is always in the agency interest. Another reason to resist dedicating teams to one thing, and one thing alone.
I once had an ECD hired to oversee ONE account and then three months in the client asked him off the account so he’s just drifted around for the last year
Because the client might be wrong
Counterpoint: the client is always right. Esp if it’s about personal chemistry.
