If I have double American citizenship and am from a country that has mandatory military service, do I still have to do it or should I use my American citizenship to avoid it?

You must use your US citizenship to avoid complying in the other country, but there are certain exceptions in certain Asian countries that force you or enter into a subject of treason and you can pay jail time if you re-enter the country.

If you have double American citizenship, you should use your American citizenship to avoid mandatory military service in your home country. American citizenship comes with certain rights and privileges, including the right to not be forced into military service.

If you are a dual citizen and your other citizenship is from a country that has mandatory military service, you may be obligated to serve in the military.

You should speak with an attorney to get a better understanding of your specific case. You may also be able to use your American citizenship to avoid mandatory service. You have many options but don't get in trouble.

You would not have to do it, as you could use your American citizenship to avoid it. Look up your laws and know that no one can force you into military training.
