If I pay out of pocket for my CPA exam NTS fee today, can I expense that when I start full time in June?

Yes, just keep copies of your receipts

I took my exams during my senior year of college, between interning and starting full time at PwC.

I was able to expense everything when I started.

like

This is okay since you’re in college but would be different if your an experienced hire

Yes - only once though for each exam but I've heard of some people getting away with expensing more

Typically would only get caught if you had your expenses audited, but this is not a reason to not follow the rule.

Typically firms only cover once employed. I would ask hr first before attempting. Hate for u to get punished for a misunderstanding.

I know at EY, you just have to expense within 60 days of starting. But they will still reimburse it.

Is CPA crucial to break into banking?

I am going to work as Audit Associate at KPMG in 2023. I am thinking to stay there for more than a year, then make an attempt into banking. I really hate the CPA exams for its soul-crushing elements. I am rather planning to break into the top MBA programs at the time. I have financial resources to do so but I feel quite mixed after getting the Macc for KPMG position without pursuing the CPA.
