If I want to get into FDD eventually (internally or externally, big 4) at the 1-1.5 year mark in my career (I am currently in a rotational program between Audit and AAS) would it be better to apply for a senior associate or experienced associate position? I assume closer to 1.5-2 years would make sense for a senior role but just wanted to hear out people's opinions.

You’re not getting a senior role with less than 2 years of experience (especially considering the market, which won’t improve much in 2023).

I recommend that you focus on obtaining an experienced associate role. Once you perform well, you’ll get promoted to senior within a year or so.

How would anyone know you’re on the brink of being fired? lol

You should just get in as soon as you can, at any firm. You can always jump to B4 down the road.

Just do a quick LinkedIn search. It is very common for A2/S1 from audit (about 2 YOE) to get a senior position in another big 4. It might be harder now due to the deal flow. But it is very doable after the deal market recovers.

I am only 4 months into being a surgical coordinator. I love the position itself however I am struggling to adapt into my new work environment. My position puts me in a place where I need to interact with my new coworkers but they are not as welcoming as I expected. There is also another surgical coordinator however I have come to find from other staff that there is a long history of her running other staff away and not fully training other surgical coordinator staff properly. Any suggestions?

Anyone out there who left their previous job for a new one have any advice or life experience to share? I’ve been thinking about it for months but currently feel comfortable in my job/the products I work on. I’d say I have a great work/life balance but I do know that I could be making 20-30% more and have better benefits if I left. I also feel a bit stagnant in my job but the job security has kept me put. Would love to hear if leaving a comfortable job for more money is always worth it.

I am a new (lateral) associate at a small firm where everyone currently works from the office. When I started, I wasn’t told specific firm hours. I’ve tried to figure out when to come and go based upon when the partners arrive and leave, but their schedules are very inconsistent. The other associates don’t have helpful guidance for me. Assuming that if I ask the partners they’ll say to use my discretion, what are reasonable hours to keep?
