It’s a lot harder now and there is a high chance that you will be hung up for a really long time.
Agree with D3 which sucks. I really like my project and see a solid pipeline for career growth but they’re all Core. I don’t want to wait around in USDC forever at 75% pay

Hey, agree with the above. The advice I was given from a senior manager was… Find a core position and try to get the manager to hire you. Then you’d need them to help you petition. You basically have to fill a hole they can’t fill without you. Then coach, rm, senior manager would all petition the partner to let you go.
It’s not worth transferring.
You’ll be brought in at low end of pay band and may make it to middle end of pay band after 1st raise in traditional.
It’s better to leave Deloitte altogether.

I'm curious too. I just joined as a SSS but i learned I'm way under the campus hire MBA saleries despite having a graduate degree, which feels extremely biased and discriminatory.
Campus hire MBA salaries are different - and they're literally only for a select few schools / MBA hires. Nothing discriminatory about giving a premium salary to hires from a top MBA program. (I too have a graduate degree but not from a top MBA program and I didn't come through campus recruiting - I did not get anything near the mba salary but I know that's not discrimination).
I’m kind of in the same position. I talked to a friend who did it and he said he had to talk to his USDC leadership chain all the way up. I’ve heard it’s even harder now
I get it it’s easier to leave the firm. But I have my own considerations that I can’t leave the firm right now. It will be another 1-1.5 years.
Don't forget also that your promotion time-line resets and core got time in role, and once you transfer your starting from zero and any time you spent in a similar level role at USDC doesn't count. So if you're SS and this is your target year but gets transferred to core you now start over from day zero and you are now stuck as a consultant for the next 2 years before you reach your millstone year.
Have a college that got transferred and was looking to go up for promotion this year, but now have a 2026 target year instead of 2024.
That's what you need to do. Get promoted, then transfer. Just keep in mind you'll start at the bottom of the pay scale and also your work expectations will change. Core and USDC are NOT the same for equivalent levels no matter what people keep insisting or I should rather say believing.
