If the longterm goal is to get into real strategy consulting ie. MBB, T2, would it be better to start at a smaller ~T4-5 firm in their digital arm or an internal role at a Fortune 500 bank after UG?

Work somewhere and excel for 4-6 years. Get MBA. Recruit for consulting.

Agree with BCG1 100%

Wtf is T4-5

likefunny

No clue, but I believe CFGI falls under T7.

funny

Internal role at a bank is gonna suck.

Working at a boutique could be good, depending on if you're working on any high level topics or not.

Either way, a good MBA will increase your chances drastically

like

If these are the only two options, I would say maybe the bank? But why wouldn’t you just apply to strategy consulting? Shoot your shot at MBB, T2s, ACN Strat, B4 and something will stick

like

It definitely will stick. Don’t be like me and actually prepare for the case. I was lucky enough to get an interview at a T2 but due to my stupidity/self doubt I never practiced. Now I’m in risk 🤦‍♂️

like

OP, I did tech consulting company with strategy arm, not B4.
Started as an experienced hire at BCG two years later.

Feel free to DM or comment on process.

I’ve worked in clinical research in the academic/non profit world for the past five years. Does anyone know of any CROs/pharma companies that are willing to hire someone with research expertise from an academic medical center rather than already in industry? Thanks!

Would "odd" programming experience be considered against the AWS higher level cert requirements? Never officially been a Dev at any of my positions, but did a lot of smaller, "homegrown" projects at each, i.e. python scripts to automate certain processes.

Thinking about a pivot to AWS tech, getting the certs, just didn't want to be 'stuck' not being able to qualify for the higher level ones.

I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.

I went through two rounds of interviews for
a job that the posting stated $36.66 per
hour (FP&A Analyst)…the company
recruiter had told me in the initial call the
pay could be 32-36 because of the other
benefits. If I do get a job offer what range
should I try for? I was really hoping to get
around the 36-40 but now I feel like they
may try to offer lower than what was
posted. Also there was no range but the
average for this position is upper 70s-90k.
Thanks for any help!

Hi! I have worked in management roles in tech, mainly in analytics, for approximately 10 years. My TC has fluctuated (currently around 135K CAD), but it seems like it's relatively easy to breach the 100K bar, but hard to breach the 150K bar. I now work at the CBC, but I have worked in the private sector too. What is the most realistic way to move to 200K? 1) Continue moving the ladder to a VP position, 2) Switch to Pre-Sale, 3) Switch to Consulting, 4) Work from a U.S. company from Canada.
