If you are working fully remote, is there anything that you and your team do to keep team dynamics and culture good? As much as I like working from home, having those in person interactions is helpful sometimes in creating those relationships with your coworkers which can also help to make work itself easier at times

We have a lot of fun channels in our team chat. It’s a nice low pressure way to let people share something funny or thoughtful.

Oooh that's nice. Do they stay active? I feel like I also have some chats like that but they're relatively inactive most of the time except for the few occasions where they'll be sudden bursts of convos

Our team has a mini book club! We read a creative-related book and meet every other week to discuss it on Zoom. We usually cover about a few chapters at a time, depending on the length of the book.

That's cute! Is it opt in or is it like a mandatory thing you guys do? Are there any people that don't want to participate and if so, how is that handled in the group?

Question: I have a client who started a restaurant. He leased the land and bought shipping containers where he spent money contracting out to turn them into bars. I’m having a tough time determining how to depreciate this! First thought was leasehold but he’s not making improvements to a structure...he owns the structure! But nonresidential real estate at 27.5 years doesn’t make sense either as it’s not a brick and mortar building. Curious on others thoughts! TIA

Fishes, Basically, I’m a front-end developer. I have work with most of the front-end technologies and frameworks. I want to learn back-end to get rid of the dependency from the other person who work with the the back-end for the common tasks.

It would be highly appreciated if you could give me some advice/resources/roadmap on the same.

Additional Posts in Designers

I started a full time in-house design job that pays extremely well. I barely have to work at all. This makes me very confused since I kept hearing stories of people working 60+ hr weeks as designers at ad agencies. I am not complaining, but I have this creeping irrational feeling that I’ll get fired for not working even though there’s nothing for me to do. Should i be making up projects or asking for more work? Or just chill out? I just feel very confused. Are a lot of full time jobs like this?

How do you know you’re a good designer? I get most of my ideas from being inspired by other work and just creating what I feel looks good. I know how to use design programs. But, I don’t know if that’s enough.

Im working at a big multi-product company and we're having 5 dedicated product teams, however, teams are working in silos. Each team's has its own process, design system, technology etc. We identified that most of the teams use and need components that were already conceptualised, designed and developed, for our other products, and we are starting to create a global set of components, a global design system that we will use on all our products. What is your approach?

Hey fishies! I’m looking to take a leap into the remote world. I am a Sr. Graphic designer and art director in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦. I’m looking to take on more of an art director and creative director role, remotely. I can attach my website and a portfolio if anyone can help out. I have been designing professionally now for just over 15 years now. I work very quickly and very well with other team members. I also take on freelance work. I’m married with 2 kids so the more work the better.

Hi all
I started out as a graphic designer. Worked for about 4yrs in different roles. Then i started a digital design role for 2 yrs and then made my transition into ux. i have been in a ux role for 5 years. But i want to steer my career towards something more creative. Like in 5-10 years I wouldn’t want to be a specialist or a ux director. I d like to be an art director or creative director. I love branding & marketing but also product. Would love something that allows me to do both?
