Is it smart to set up an LLC for holding investment properties and other securities?

Seeing how 401k’s, ira’s etc..are mostly based in stocks. What happens if we have another Great Depression and the stock market crash’s. Even if you have Real estate investments, if ppl can’t pay rent like with Corona, that’s not really helpful. So what are other ways in addition to those mentioned is there to help secure you into old age? 

Have a big upcoming international trip and trying to choose between the Marriott convoy boundless credit card or the chase sapphire preferred card to not have foreign transaction fees. Anyone have any experience with either and can help tip the scales one way or another?

I have some collections on my credit report. One from an electric company for $800 (imo they violated terms of contract and sent me to collections in spite of their fuck up), and an apartment for $80~ that charged me a cleaning fee when my apartment was spotless.

Despite these two collections have a 712-720 credit score.

So mortgage lenders care at all about the collections or is it mostly the credit score that matters?
