If you could choose one (or more) thing(s) for a supervising attorney to do to make your job as a paralegal easier, what would it be?

The thing that makes my job easier is to have open communication with my supervising attorney. If you have a conversation with a client, let me know what you discussed. I have worked for some who would not tell me what was going on in a case as far as what they were doing and I looked like an idiot.

Also, we need help sometimes. Take that call from the over-irate client. If I am getting push back from ab adjuster or provider, jump in. People listen to and all around show more respect to the one with a JD behind their name.

Unfortunately, it isn't about what a supervising attorney can do for you - it is all about them and their needs. They don't give 2 shits what you need. Sorry, but it's true.

I am so sorry you are in that environment. I am fortunate to work for an attorney who cares deeply about his support stuff and tries to support us any way he can. I hope you find that someday, not just because you need it, but because you deserve it.

Maybe even getting referred? I have a deep knowledge of investments and always felt inclined to go down this route.

Feel like audit scheduling is always done on a knifes edge in that the timeline and staff schedules are enough so that if everyone works 60 hour weeks and no issues are identified then it can be filed on time. But even small things that increase the work can wildly throw off the schedule and cause hours to skyrocket for the staff on the job. No real point here, just ranting.
