I’m a recently sworn in graduate and my experience with internships and clerkships was less than average due to family issues during law school. Im very interested in business and corporate law but it seems all associates are pretty much pulled from old clerkships and summer associate positions or you need experience. Basically, what ways exist for me to get actual experience without a current job in business law or any field of law for that matter? Would appreciate some advice!

Take on a pro bono case that’s either business law related or adjacent. For example a consumer law or consumer protection case.

Hard to say without knowing more about your academic pedigree, but might look at starting at an ID firms for 2-3 years to gain some experience, and then lateraling.

Is it just me or do 90% of the jobs being laid off by big tech sound made up? Many job descriptions with multiple bullet points that all kinda revolve around the same idea. Are these kind of jobs finally being exposed? Six figure employees getting paid to sit and bounce ideas off each other?

Can someone point me to some material where I can read about profit sharing vs 401k. I get the concept, but I am trying to understand is 10% profit sharing vested over 5 years better than an employee 401k match of 6%?

From my understanding 10% PS is better because it’s just a standard 10% on top of whatever I contribute though it takes 5 years to vest. Does this mean if I leave before 5 years I don’t get any of it?
