Is a move to PE from MBB worth it?
Hi, I’m travelling to Canada on PR status by July 2022. I currently work for one of the Big 4 consultancies (been here since five years). I would like to understand how much weight that would carry when searching for a job in Canada. Would it even matter? Also, can you suggest if it’s a good idea to approach job consultancies? If yes, any recommendations? PwC EY Deloitte KPMG
As a young undergraduate from a tier 1 college, how do I break into in the strategy consulting arms of big 4 or MBB. I am keen to work in the front end office rather than the capability centers. Experienced colleagues it would great if you could share an insight about this. McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company EY-Parthenon Bain & Company

How are you a senior manager really asking this question? You know exactly how to make the switch. Find someone you know, or a friend of a friend of a friend even. Talk to as many people as possible. Network the shit out of it. Find an in and take advantage. At the same time, meet with an executive coach. Invest in your professional brand and your marketing materials (resume/cv, LinkedIn profile, referral network.) Take a hard look at your professional experience and objectively assess your strengths and weaknesses, and prepare for interviews based on the role requirements and how your skills match up. Then execute the shit out of your plan. Put in the hard work. Get lucky and meet the right person. Get new role. Celebrate and then work your ass off for the next several years.
I think M1's response is fair considering how I worded my original post. What I failed to convey was that I was more looking for tips and or tricks while navigating the process. More specifically if there some parts of big 4 "life" worth placing a greater emphasis on as they translate particular well to MBB
I legitimately applied on their website without referral or networking. Recruiter reached out in a few weeks, scheduled interviews and I landed an offer. Starting in Jan 2020. Basically, build a solid resume and apply. If you can network / get a referral even better. Either way it is the interview prep that will matter the most. Hope this is helpful.
Get that money son. It takes hard work, and I won’t sugar coat that. And as a senior manager, they really should know this by now.
