Don’t know what your comp is but 40-50% is probably life-changing. I’m in ID and if you’re doing it for the love of the game, more power to you, but I’d go with the money.
Unless you are having a hard time living off of your current salary, I’d suggest staying. Liking your job is a HUGE deal. Especially in our line of work.
The work sucks wherever you go, it’s the ppl you work with and environment that makes it worth going in everyday and not hating your life!
Jump ship. Follow the money.
I think it depends what your ultimate goals and values are. Everyone is different. You love your firm now. You may hate your next one. Can you do any research on the culture at these places?
Get the interviews. Ask about retention/turnover. Pick the one with the least turnover.
If they get evasive with the question or shit talk the people who left avoid the firm.
Or be unhappy but making more money. Your call
Not enough info to answer. It all depends on what you value and whether you’re sacrificing that for the 40-50% pay. If you need/want the money and don’t care about the culture or expected billables, then get after it, but be aware of burnout and the ability to pivot if needed.
If you provide more info, I’ll be happy to provide more advice. I worked for a small one-state ID firm, then a national group before going in-house.
Usually the only way to get a a significant raise is to jump ship, so don’t expect your current pay to go up 40-50% any time in the near future.
Always keep your options open. Applying and interviewing isn’t a commitment to leaving
Not silly at all. Go.
I'd need to know your hours now, and the expected hours at the new firm. If it's a 70% increase in work it's probably not worth it. Lots of ID firms are miserable. But it's also just true that moving firms is often the only way to get paid more, so it may just be better.
Go or stay with the firm with the best lawyers. Learn from them and then use that experience to make your life better and more $$ down the road because your value to your firm and other firms will increase.
