It is not a problem to connect with your manager and ask if there is anything you can do to go back to cooking. Ask if there is something that you need to improve on. If no real reason is given, don't be afraid to move on to the next venture. Always leave on good terms, you never know when you will cross paths again. I agree, you should try to stick it out for the year, but if it is bad for your personal health, its ok to start searching now and give a proper notice when you find the next thing.
I'm sorry, that's not a fun spot to be in. How far are you from the one-year mark? I'd try to stick it out at least until then if you can. I know it's not enjoyable, but if you can, it'll look better on your resume to not have left your first ever job after a few months. Not to say you shouldn't apply anyway before then - you might be able to find a restaurant that won't penalize you for wanting to move on fast. Hang in there.
it;s kinda normal, since you're new. stick with it, probably get better. opportunity will open up for you to shine, but rn you have to be patient. and don't take it too personally.
