Mix it up. It’s bad to do anyone one position for hours at a time.
You do you, OP. I love my adjustable desk, but I'll go a week where I sit the full week, a week where I stand majority of the days, etc. All depends on what I'm doing and how I feel. You will likely want a cushioned mat for standing and still want/need a chair (and don't cheap out, there are significant differences in the $50 versus the >$100, but you can find deals) as standing all day is hard. Just ask anyone working in retail or a warehouse.
I go back and forth, standing up during meetings to sitting when I need to concentrate and perform a task
This is my routine, too. Standing on Zoom is great for making you not look like a miserable, hunched over goblin (just me?). Also more confidence when presenting. Highly recommend.
I’ve had an adjustable height desk for years. It’s best to do both sitting and standing, with plenty of walking around in between. Try not to be in any one position too long. I have an anti-fatigue Matt for standing but my favorite is just wearing Crocs or other comfy shoes while I stand.... don’t do it barefoot.... you will get very fatigue.
I don’t use the matt much. It gets in the way with the chair. That’s why I use comfy shoes. Crocs feel like the same material as the matt so I got a pair for indoor use only... perfect for WFH. Once you get your desk set up see how you feel after a week. I have hardwoods too so you will definitely want to wear shoes when standing.
I have an adjustable one from Costco. I pretty much only stand and I love it. The only issue with my desk is that I have to put my monitor on a box to keep my head straight while I type. It's odd that I have a somewhat fancy adjustable desk and yet such a janky setup i.e. monitors on shoebox

My mom uses all of our board games as stands for her monitors and keyboard. she’s working on top of Catan and Yahtzee 😂
I have a stand-only desk with a anti fatigue mat and I’m pretty sure it’s caused my feet to supinate which causes some knee and back pain over time. Could be just me but fair warning
This can happen. I wear shoes that don’t have any arch support and I find that helps me stand properly.
I mix it up all the time. I’d suggest the cushioned mat if you have hardwoods.
I’d also get an adjustable monitor arm so you can easily move your monitor depending on whether you’re sitting or standing.
I think i sit about two total hours of my waking day. I’ve been doing that for years. I’ve read that what is worst for your core is to sit in a chair that has a back support because then you’re using even fewer muscles. I also walk around quite a bit while working from my phone. I wouldn’t recommend standing still for eight hours. I can’t imagine that is great for you.

I stood for two years and messed up my knees.
I just got one but I’m a software engineer and prefer to slouch like a slob. It’s good for when your tired or running meetings but don’t worry about a quota. Make it work for you.
You’ll need to mix it up. When standing for many hours we tend to place a lot of our weight on on side of our hips/legs to alleviate ourselves. That can cause you problems for various reasons.
You are supposed to alternate like every 30 mins.

Currently I have a stationary desk with a chair but the chair is more for like an accent corner of the room chair and def not for working. but I sit in it for about 8-10 hours when I work. I’ll need to get a good office chair if I do choose to sit
Yeah, don’t stand all day — I did that when I got one and then my hips started to hurt lol
Good to mix it up for posture, your hips, lower back, neck etc.!
