I'm happy to have actually heard back from an interview feedback but what they said has me confused. Apparently, I'm almost the perfect candidate, but they'd prefer someone who could be more suitable for a future leadership role. That sounds like a total lie to me because why would they wait until I can be in a senior role to fill someone up for those roles? Is this a real thing companies look for or have I just been fooled?

It’s frustrating but not always a lie. Many organizations, especially large ones, hire for roles with advancement in mind to save time and money on training later. Sometimes it’s just an excuse for passing up a great candidate, though. If you get this feedback often, it may be worth asking in future interviews how they define leadership readiness.

I had cleared all the rounds in S&P and had salary discussion 1.5 month back. The HR is always saying the management is on leave and will soon get the approval and release offer. Today she shas asked for one more week to release the offer. Should I wait for it or move on. Are they waiting for some other candidate to join before rejecting me at last moment. Only 10 days of my LWD are left.

How does your company manages HR or team building activities in WFH model ? is it effective in refreshing you or team culture ? Or is it just an extra overhead now ?

I feel it was a good break/refresh when at office but now it really feels just an extra overhead siting on desk pretending to have fun when you can ACTUALLY have rest/fun by just taking break for that time and instead interact with people around yourself AT Home. Feels more refreshing.

I’m reviewing my resume getting ready to start my job search and have a question for recruiters, hiring managers. I’m looking for a role brand-side not agency side. Specialist roles aside, such as digital, when you see someone describing themselves as a “generalist marketer” is this a resume you’d pass on? My past roles have been such that I do a lot of marketing projects, tasks etc. but I’m not a specialist. I’m worried if I use this terminology I won’t even be considered for a role. Thank you

Had several great interviews at a company. Reached out to internal recruiter a few days ago. No word back. Should I send a LinkedIn message to the person that would be my boss to check in?

I’ve noticed that HR, when explaining why a candidate didn’t get the job, tend to lean on “You’re great, but we had candidates with more experience in [skill relevant to the job].” I do believe this is true in some cases, but it can’t possibly be for all of them.

HR folks — what feedback have you obscured by offering that line instead?

Cold applied for an awesome role, had an interview with hiring manager, recruiter, and given a pretty hefty assignment that I’m really proud of nailing. They followed up with an email asking for 4-5 days that I am available for a full day of interviews. Gave them 4-5 days, started planning for how I’d get those days off work during insane times at current job, and now not a single word from them to confirm a date. Been over a week now. Sad. Pretty jaded. What can I do? Already followed up
