I’m in corporate law at a big law firm. Once I’ve obtained more financial flexibility, I would like to do work that is more litigation in nature. I.e. DAs office/working for the DOJ or something along those lines. Is this possible or would it be too difficult given that I’m not a litigator? I still do tons of litigation pro bono work and try to keep up with litigation in general. Any general advice?

Quite difficult and the more senior you get the harder it will be to retool. Tons of big law litigation folks will be vying for the same jobs. I’d suggest you try to move to your firm’s litigation group if you think you want to do litigation long term.

If you’re willing to take a pay cut then it’s totally doable. In my jurisdiction the prosecutor’s office is always hiring, and they take all experience levels

This will depend in part on location and where you are trying to go. SDNY/NY, for example, will be incredibly competitive as folks from firms with litigation experience are vying for those jobs. A secondary or smaller market, as one poster mentioned already, may be less competitive.

like

Doable. Consider a clerkship in the jurisdiction you want to be a prosecutor in.

Also want to note that, especially with corporate and litigation experience, you would be a very attractive candidate for in-house roles—especially for startups or smaller companies who need GCs with 360-degree skills.

You could potentially go to a federal agency and transfer from there into doj.

Does anyone have suggestions for what a salary should be for a Digital Marketing Analyst | Paid Social & Performance Media? I have 1 year of experience, the job asks for 0-1 year of experience. I feel I over meet the qualifications in some areas and just meet them in others. The recruiter said 50k is the salary the company is offer. I know I can negotiate. What are your thoughts on what the salary should be?

I’ve got about 20 years cross channel experience in marketing, split between big brands and startups, and I’m considering pivoting into a data science/data analyst role. I know it will initially be a step back in comp but is it at all realistic for a person with certificate level experience in data analysis but a decent marketing management background to expect $150-200k comp or is that mostly for degreed candidates (or not realistic at all)? Any guidance here is greatly appreciated.

So I just had a client tell me their asylum case is fabricated, and can't I help prepare the person for court. My initial reaction, fire the client. I'm not that kind of atty. How do you find the balance btwn not turning clients away but not being unethical?
