Do you have a technical background? While not required - it generally is an easier sell especially if you're changing practice areas.
Economics
Are you hoping to switch into IP lit at the same firm? Or are you interviewing for an IP lit position at a new firm? It might be tough if you're switching to a new firm - there is quite a bit of preference for a technical background (unless you're hoping to do soft IP litigation). If you're switching practice groups at a GP firm it will probably be easier.
