Could be because more often then not "religious protections" and "religious freedoms" are being weaponized in such a way that it substantially harms other people, for the benefit of the personal beliefs of a specific group of people, which are religious in nature and have absolutely no benefit to society as a whole. But that's just my take.
If you ask me, people who are so offended by other people's lifestyle should just get over it and move on. That would be the DEI approach
Actually to the contrary, certain religions are attacked because of DEI policies!
Can I DM?
This is a joke, right? Religion is protected here in the United States, however, our nation was not founded on religious principles. If you’re referring to religion in the workplace, every company handles DEI differently, but no workplace should be attacking a religion.
Disregard that message. Responded to wrong thread
The way I see it, religion is something that's personal. Singling out or protecting a certain religion, even if it's a common one, is just a recipe for disaster. Unless you're a religious organization exclusively, then it has no place in your business (at least, not if you want to be as successful as possible). Unless you're being actively discriminated against, I don't see how it could be a problem. People will complain about diversity laws and such and such, but we wouldn't need those laws if people were never discriminated against in the first place.
My organization avoids this issue by creating groups for those who come to us wanting one. If a certain religion doesn’t want to be represented or if it’s members, don’t want a formal ERG, then we won’t force them to have one.
At my organization, we have a few ERG‘s dedicated to different religious/cultural identities. I say religious/cultural because not all people who identify with a certain group that is traditionally considered religious consider themselves very religious.
I really don’t think you should avoid religious inclusivity, I think that there’s a great opportunity for you to bring it up to your DEI leads or to your leadership if you are a DEI lead.
There are great resources for bringing faith into the workplace from RFBF. They offer a REDI assessment around religion. And they publish a large survey every few years.
RFBF is great!
Also idk what you are talking about. They talk about it on Fox News all the time
Could you elaborate on your question?
I dont think you should give this up - and this is deom an agnostic leaning atheist 😉
At the org that most recently discriminated against me, we did have an Interfaith business resource group. So long as you aren't pushing your religion onto folks, it's a great way to not only educate others around the myths portrayed about different religions, but also just a plain and simple way to create communities that foster understanding vs fear mongering.
Ultimately that is how I saw DEI playing a role in companies...kind of like a continued education about the world around us. I also see an opportunity to organize...i.e. create coalitions of working people to understand shared struggles and demand better by corporations. I know folks hate the word unionization in the white collar industry, but it's time folks. Union up! I'm still trying to figure out how to do that but I do recognize it being a need.
Great. See? REDI - looks like they handle it totally different for some weird reason. I mean hey they are welcome to join the party but not if they are excluding everybody else
