I’m planning out my next watch purchase and would be interested in feedback or suggestions. Likely looking to keep it around $5K or less (likely used). Some that I’m currently considering:

1. Tudor Black Bay (I like the Harrods version)
2. Omega Aqua Terra
3. Cartier Calibre de Cartier
4. Breitling Super Ocean (probably Heritage)

Thoughts? Reasons to exclude any from the list? Additions to consider?

TIA!

All are nice watches, choose your favorite vs the crowds favorite

likesmart

Not looking to base my decision on crowd favorability, just curious if there are considerations I haven’t considered for one over the other.

All solid options. Breitling would be bottom of my list from these but really can’t go wrong.

like

Agreed, the Breitling is a cut below the others listed here. Otherwise, solid list!

Aqua Terra is horologically more interesting imo and very versatile. More dial options too.

like

Omega with the co axial escapement.

Have you considered buying 1000 Invictas instead?

funnysmart

That’s obviously plan B

I'd give it to the Aqua Terra, but it's a wide range of styles. My wife's lavender dial Aqua Terra 34mm is probably my favorite watch in our collection, and some of the men's 38mm versions have similar designs. Great bracelet (usually Omega's weakness) and I love the rounder shapes around indices and date aperture

like

The round date window on the new 34mm is really appealing.

I picked up a Breitling Superocean Heritage 57, and it's one of my most worn watches. I love the design and history, and it's extremely versatile between the classic art deco black diver design + thinness. It's hard to overstate just how good it looks in person and on wrist

But it's not the best choice if you want a professionally spec'd proper dive watch or in-house movement

like

What else is in your collection?

like

I would consider this next purchase probably my first actual “luxury” watch. Others in my current collection are a Tissot PRX Chronograph, Seiko 5, Tissot Seastar 2000, and an old Tag that was my father’s. Whatever I get next will likely be my new daily. And since I have a boat and am in the water a lot, I figured it should be another dive.

like

Aqua terra, it's very versatile and also timeless.

like

Tudor BB - love mine. The bracelet is a bit sharp tho so if you have kids you pickup regularly it’s a small nit

like

Yeah it just so happens to be sharp around the clasp as well as the logo. Minor thing but when a 2 year old is crawling all over you, you become much more aware of it

See what SeaQs are going for… worth considering

smart

Used Rolex explorer or omega speedmaster

Fair enough! I personally like the taper and prefer keeping it on the bracelet, so drilled lug holes aren’t a benefit for me

Aqua Terra!! Let me know if I can source one for you

A lot of knowledge on here so asking for some help. It’s my partner’s birthday and I’ve no idea what to buy him. He’s a watch fanatic - Pateks (sports and dress), Audemars (sports and dress), Rolex (sports), Omega (sports).

I’m obviously not buying him a watch for his birthday (in his dreams!) but any idea for some good accessories? He’s already got a PP watch winder, and has bought multiple nice straps for the dress watches. I’m completely lost.
