I’m really having a hard time being motivated to retake my cpa exam. Especially when people around you don’t understand / support this decision and keep on living their lives and you’re here spending your weekends and nights studying.. I hate it. I feel stuck and afraid to fail again and keep on wasting time and money on this.

Feel the exact same way, a friend told me to shift my way of thinking. Told me to break it out and that I have 4 months to pass a section. Once I pass one I have to take a week of and reward myself. And actually reward myself not just take a week off of studying, go on vacation, go do something I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve found this extremely helpful from looking at the tests from a new lens. Best of luck!

Thank you for this advice ! I’m trying to change my way of thinking and break down my schedule to focus on it day by day and not pressure myself too much. It’s just to tough because I get anxious very easily. My job schedule is also not helping as I’m always working overtime and can’t take PTO during busy season… I’ll try to reward myself so I can stay motivated, thanks 🙏

Focus on quality studying time instead of studying all afternoon and weekends! I passed all 4 sections in 7 months while working (I am a very average student). I never missed out on things I enjoyed. I would get up early study and have the afternoons free on the weekends. During the weekdays, I would take Fridays off. Just make sure you’re not torturing yourself. It makes the process more bearable when you are still living life.

Hello, looking for supervisor positions in healthcare within NYC, I am looking to start ASAP. I have my Bachelors in Health Services Admin and Economics, 5 years of experience in the industry and I am currently working towards my PMP certification, as well as going for my MBA or MHA, depending on what program I can afford. I am currently located in Queens. Thank you!

I’ve heard it’s difficult to get into Private Equity after earning an MBA, is this true? If I work as an MBB consultant for a few years on primarily PE casework after getting an MBA, what would my exit opportunities look like if PE is not an option? Would all my work with PE cases just be wasted?

At a M7 (or top 10), whatever floats your boat. Have successfully finished my qualifiers. I know my goal is industry and I’m starting dissertation proposal stuff now (will take around 1.5-2 years to complete), should I opt for a Master’s and start working now? Should I get the PhD? Let’s look at this from a strictly career perspective. My goal is to come back to consulting.

Any recommendations? What's your personal experience? Are they worth paying, or is college the way?

California peeps. I have a feeling I failed FAR, which is my last exam, but my score isn’t released until May 11. Can I submit the reapplication with the CA Board of Accountancy to speed up the retake and NTS process in case I failed? Or do I need to get my exam score first?
