Find market salary reports for these jobs and amchor with the numbers there, for example, 87k. Never mention your actual target, as they will negotiate down from there. Or ask for a reallocation in the base vs bonus. Higher base, lower bonus. Look up basic salary negotiation techniques online, Ramit Sethi has some good videos.
Thanks I’ll look into those
Go with the acq role for the best long term opportunity.
It’s weird because the firm is a third party property manager but spreads out financials for developers and sponsors/ operators. So it’s not really buyside but consulting.
FTI has a strong real estate practice and they are currently hiring. If you're open to other roles/offers - please feel free to reach out and I could refer.
Thank you, I actually applied to one FTI role via referral a few weeks before applying to this role
Update - the CMBS role gave me a new $77k offer
Sounds like you’re on the greener side. Don’t negotiate too hard with little to no experience. If the 77k is needed because that’s what you’re at now or have a real reason to be there, be honest and negotiate through it. Also keep in mind 7k is not a lot of money at all in the grand scheme of things so don’t sacrifice losing a role by over negotiating - especially if it’s an awesome opportunity and you’re going to learn a lot. Hope this helps
