Congrats! The hardest and most rewarding work you will ever do is be a parent.
You don’t have to say a word yet. I was in the exact same boat and I didn’t tell anyone until I got my promised promotion. I ended up telling the team and HR when I was 18 weeks pregnant. It’s fine. Do what you need to.
I’ll hold tight, thank you!
Congratulations!! You do not need to say anything yet! I was in a similar position and didn’t say anything until I was about 6 months pregnant (was easy to hide during the winter with oversize sweaters and blazers). Turns out my manager was still supportive of promoting me and reassured me that my pregnancy would not impact my promotion. I ended up getting promoted shortly before going on maternity leave. I realize I am lucky to have had a supportive team and manager though, so for that reason I would still err on the side of caution and not disclose your pregnancy until absolutely necessary. I told my manager first, then HR, then finally my team.
Hopeful that I have a positive experience like you did, thank you!
Congratulations! Don’t say anything unless you find yourself in a situation where you need serious accommodations during early pregnancy. Hoping that will not be the case though! I had 2 HG pregnancies so I needed RTO accommodations. I would wait til you lock in the promo if possible. In theory, pregnancy puts you in a protected class but in practice it’s a bit of a toss up depending on who you work with.
Don’t say a word yet. Unless you absolutely need an accommodation, wait until you have the promotion. I had to disclose mine early in my pregnancy due to unremitting morning sickness and multiple first trimester doctor appointments. I had planned to wait to 4 -5 months due to previous early pregnancy losses.
Don’t say anything. I didn’t share with my team until my second trimester when the pregnancy is viable. It’s a personal choice that a lot of people make, in case anything happens you don’t want to go through the pain of talking about it.
Here to say congrats and also to reiterate do not say anything until that promo goes through. Same thing happened to me and I told them at 6 months after it was a done deal!
Keep it private but definitely say something after 12 week appointment to your boss. I have had others come to me week 18. I feel like that is not fair. If you are a dedicated hard worker they will be happy for you. I raised a 10 year employee a week before she went on maternity with her second child. She deserved it.
When are promos supposed to go through?
Was supposed to happen already but hoping for Q1 at this point, classic agency politics
