In engineering, the reward for hard work is usually just more work. I used to pull 60-hour weeks thinking my grind would lead to a massive bonus. Instead, my manager gave the promotion to a peer who worked 40 hours but solved one high visibility bottleneck. I was busy being a hero while they were busy being a value-add. Effort is a cost, results are the currency. Are you burning out for a pat on the back, or are you working on the tasks that actually move the needle on your paycheck?

Has anybody successfully leveraged a job offer into better conditions at the incumbent firm? I.e. office transfers or better case opportunities - not compensation. Or do people get offers and take them as a matter of course?

Plaintiff side question - comp is base plus % of fees. Firm has non equity split % with associate working on case. This normal for a non equity partner? Normal associate comp is full % when working with an equity partner.

1YOE medical device NPI Lead looking for salary perspective

Mechanical engineering grad, joined a medical device startup that I had done co-ops at. 8mo into full-time, pivoted from engineering into more of an operations role doing new product introduction (NPI), now with 3 direct reports.
