McKinsey Blue 🦋 > Bain Red 🪓 > BCG Green 🤢 that’s all
But in all seriousness, McKinsey’s a slightly more recognisable name in the market for exit opps and there’s less risk if you want to try something other than PE. Digital/tech/AI is almost non-existent at Bain in comparison.
Pro
Bain red instantly increases my blood pressure…
blue or green anyday
Can’t go wrong with either but go with the people and if PE/VC is your long term goal, Bain seems to be the correct choice! Trust your Gut

Turn them both down and apply for kpmg
Didn’t even make it past the KPMG online tests 😪

Bain has an edge for PE. However, as mentioned above, you can't go wrong with either. Congrats!
My McK friends are very serious and driven and constantly cancel on me when I try to arrange dinners with them. Love them ofc
Bain if you want PE and a good culture and slightly less working hours
If you're certain about PE/VC then go Bain, if you have any doubt at all and might want to experience some other things (I would recommend it), then go McK.
Yes, this is something I’ve been thinking about. Might be good to get some strategy experience first rather than gunning for PE straight away
Pro
Go McK, equally good on PE exit opps whilst better projects, exit opps and brand on everything else.
Market share for one
The culture is a bigger differentiator than you think - and the people are how you can gauge culture.
From what you’ve said above I would be choosing Bain. I had to choose between McKinsey and BCG and chose BCG, and very pleased I did. I also liked the people at Bain and friends there now seem happier than those at McK (who I never see these days and work most weekends).
