Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

Yes, I think so! You have to disarm the assailant in any way you can to protect the greater good otherwise what are you there for?
Yes, in certain circumstances deadly force is justified. Deadly force may be used when you can reasonably believe that an imminent threat of death or serious physical injury to is present. Additionally, deadly force may be used when there is a risk of an escape or to stop an imminent threat of a felony involving the use or threatened use of deadly force.
I wish it were never necessary, but unfortunately, it is if someone threatens bodily harm, especially with a weapon.
I think that in the case that you know the suspect is armed and will use it unless deadly force is used meaning that they are reaching for it
Yes, so long as it is objectively reasonable to believe the suspect was an imminent danger to the officer or another, given the information available to the officer at the time.
Officers have a duty to protect the public, and a right to take all reasonable precautions to return to their family at the end of shift.
