Never call it San Fran.
Living in NYC on 75-85k easily enough
For someone right out of school, saving $16k is plenty. Let's be real... whatever you are going to save when you are <25 on an entry-level salary is going to be (hopefully) chump change in the grand scheme of things. And anyway I know plenty of people with much lower starting salaries in other industries who save literally zero.
Yep. 75-85K in NYC. I Don't stinge on anything, and save plenty too.
^lets assume your net pay is $60K post-tax and you spend $1500/month in rent + utilities = $18K, that leaves you $42K. Take away 10% from gross for 401K (~$7K) and $100/month in health insurance, that leaves you with ~$34K. Assuming you spent $1,500/month (cheap) on food / going out / travel, that leaves you with $16K. You consider that "saving plenty"?
85k and am living comfortably I would say. I save about half my paycheck and still have money to go out every weekend, eat out, buy things for fam, etc. It really depends on your preferences tho. If you want to live alone in midtown, 85k would not be the most comfortable salary
120 for NY if you're single
Don't know about SF but I wouldn't want to live in NYC at under 125k (obviously people do, but I can't think it'd be all that much fun)
SanFrisco then?
Depends on your lifestyle more than your salary.
