Personally we have a nanny, and I am planning on giving her a Christmas bonus inside a card, along with a batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies. She’s been invaluable to us, and what better way to say that than sugar and cash? Still debating the exact amount, leaning toward a week’s pay.

like

We did a $25 Visa gift card along with a handwritten card.

like

I gave each daycare teacher $100. I have a 7 month old if that’s a factor.

like

Yes. I roughly use a week pay for nanny and for preschool or daycare I usually do $25 a teacher (2 or 3 of them) on top of whatever class gift.

like

I’m doing $50 cash a person after weeks of debate. I’m a burb of New York for context. It’s our first year of daycare so I’m clueless. Not giving a cheesy gift they don’t want. I doubt they make much so cash it is.

like

Yes! This year has been hard and I think our daycare workers have been detrimental to my husband and I being able to work so we decided on a $100 total (gift and cash) for our 2 teachers. We also did a smaller gift for the teachers that are floaters and the director.

like

We are giving a $50 gift card to each teacher (3 teachers).

like

Yes. Gift cards, $50, to daycare teachers.

like

For daycare, we would do $50 per teacher and for nanny, we’re doing a week of salary as bonus.

like

1 Weeks pay to our small in-home daycare, we have used them since my son was 4 mos old (now almost 3). They are family to us. Also will do $25 per teacher (thanks for the above guidance!) for my sons new daycare and $10 for support staff (sub teachers, center dir and assistant dir, and the center cook). We have since relocated outside of NYC and he has moved on to a national chain daycare for the last two months which is why we have two gifting structures.

like

The gifting structure thing is really smart.

1 week pay for our amazing human angel nanny

like

Yes. We give our nanny 2 weeks pay as a bonus every year.

like

We did gifts for the daycare teachers (~$30 each) and our babysitter (who watches our daughter every day after daycare) is getting a gift (~$100 value) plus $100 cash. NY suburbs.

like

Two weeks pay bonus and a nice card for our nanny

like

We have a nanny and did a little more than 2 weeks pay. We give her the cash right at Thanksgiving so she can use the money for the holidays if she would like.

Planning a trip to Rome and Naples with day trips to Tivoli and Pompeii. Is 1 week enough? I feel like reading through 3/4 day Rome and 2 day Naples itineraries, the trip seems rushed. I have unlimited PTO but my SO is limited in time (but luckily he can work extra hrs and then use less PTO). I would say max we could do is 1.5 weeks but adding on 3-5 more days seems almost too much? Thoughts? For reference, I did Venice-Florence-Rome in a week and it seemed okay but it also wasn’t as planned out

Since we're headed towards cold weather and the holiday season, let's talk about how we can take care of ourselves during the fall/winter and beyond. For example, I'm buying a sun lamp because it's about to be 50 degrees and raining for 6 months 🤦🏻‍♀️.

I have 32k miles with THY that are about to expire. Normally I'd go ahead and book a flight, but I can't project which countries might be locked down again 5-6 months from now (haven't accrued enough PTO to travel in near future). The only other way to keep the miles is to pay $10 per 1000 miles, as far as I know. Are there other strategies?

I thought this would help make me look like a stand out on job applications along w/ my international internship but I can’t get an interview for an entry level job at big companies like Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, or Leo Burnett. Should I take my MBA off my resume?? What am I missing??
