Inspired by the thread on a potential bubble, what's everyone's preferred vehicle and/or mix to diversify generally or assuming you expect a downturn? Bonds still (eg, VBTLX, VTABX, treasuries, TBills), and if so, are we still following the 'age rule'? Gold? Something else? Nothing?

Looking for some inspo as I reevaluate my mix of investments later this year...

More money has been lost anticipating crashes than in crashes. Pick a long term invest mix you can live with and let things be. I’m doing that and having a portfolio that lets you sleep soundly is great.

People are debating fixed income (a good debate to have), but it's also worth remembering international equities as a diversified for domestic equities. The global market has never crashed as badly as individual countries sometimes do.

Not a recommendation. This is based on my conservative risk profile, time horizon, and goals. Alt Invest is gold which has grown as a % of my portfolio significantly over the past 2 years. I’m changing nothing, as I am already diversified and retired.

Have not changed my posture and generally think more is lost than gained by shifting to conservative - the time in market thing. I have a good ways to go before retirement, so stay in equities. During a few Great Recession years, I went to high quality, short duration bond funds. If I feel this market is overheated, I will move some of my ultra long positions into long positions. But staying in the same allocation for now.

What base salary/ total comp to expect for a Sr PM in Toronto in today’s market?

I was looking at PM roles only that were around $110k, one company approached me with Sr PM (title bump) at $110k. I’m getting scheduled for final interview loop next week with this company and planning to negotiate if an offer is extended from them. I did tell them that I’m at final stage with other companies so they can expect multiple offer situation from me. Advice?

Should I do it? I don’t want to fail at both jobs. Is that even reasonable to ask someone to work on both jobs?

I’m not bad with money but definitely lots of room to improve overall, due to several personal factors I don’t want to list in full here (numerous unanticipated medical bills, bad boyfriends, etc.) Hence why I only have $3k in savings right now. My first mini goal is to have $5k saved by the end of December. I need motivation and words of encouragement. If I pay off my medical bills, I won’t make my goal. I have to start putting saving money first. Getting depressed about my situation.

Is there a definitive guide to cost of living? The obvious cost of living centers (SF, NYC, LA etc.) get covered a lot, but I’m wondering where my city falls. It’s a modest Midwest city with ~100k residents but is a relatively touristy spot. It often feels like a MCOL area but I’m not sure how to adequately judge that, and it would be helpful to know when comparing salaries and the like.

For any real estate investors

22 years old and currently focused on using my left over income to invest and pay off my debt. I am set to pay off my college loans by next year and, when I do, I want to look into investing into real estate. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get into/learn more about real estate investing? Or how I can have enough knowledge on the topic to be able to invest wisely when the time comes?

Any books? youtubers? etc. How did you all learn about it?

At the end of the day, I pay all the bills (I know- but I’m more organized) and make double his salary, what low stress effort (on my limited math capacity brain) can I do to increase wealth?

I feel like I should be doing more with extra money to help us financially, but I’m scared of having to study stocks and understand the numbers. 😖

I would like to hit fire between 40-50. Currently 27, 185k total comp (125 for me and 60 for partner). Like my job don’t hate it don’t love it. Does an MBA make sense? I’m guessing it could take me to 170ish with that schools I’m looking at but wondering if the 40-50 retirement range makes an mba not make sense since I’d only have 10-20 years to save vs 12-22.

Would have to finance the whole thing myself. Current net worth is 140k. Thoughts?

All these weddings are blowing my mind and budget. I've had 5 weddings so far this year with several more to go by EoY. On top of that I've been asked to be in a lot of them which adds additional time commitment and cost. The cost of a bachelor party + shitty men's warehouse suit rental + travel and airbnb for the weekend + couple hundred bucks for wedding gift means I'm blowing tons of money for these weddings but I feel bad to say no.
