First American Financial Corporation I have attended two rounds of interview in First American Finan Company last week and have received an email that I have been selected in their interview process. The talent acquisition team did not send me an offer letter instead have sent me a BGC form which I submitted yesterday. I found it very strange as usually first offer letter is rolled out and then BGC check happens if the candidate accepts the offer. Today there was no communication. Can anyone tell me if they faced this situation?TIA

Strategy& fish - i’m currently recruiting for org strategy. Ive talked to associates (in the healthcare practice) and theyve mentioned that it doesnt matter whether youre in corp strategy, org strategy, etc and that you’re pretty much pooled by industry when it comes to staffing.
Can someone confirm this? Also, what do you expect the restructuring to look like?

@OP Was in HC at Deloitte, but often es partnered with S&O teams on my projects. Slalom has no real S&O offerings. They are working to build it out, but there is so much competition in the space that senior leadership doubts it'll be successful.
@op the name of your firm does not matter nearly as much as your experience. Leadership, ownership and the ability to differentiate yourself against your peers is what will help you when it comes to getting into grad school
If anything being in Deloitte (or any big firm) might be a negative as grad schools try to build diversity into their class. Basically they can only accept so many people from th big 4
Not true. You get full salary. I started on the bench for 5 weeks and was still paid.
@PwC1 "Access to senior execs, resources, and skills" is a big one. Our leadership is rarely present at client sites, and I feel that there is a very limited mentor culture here. It's not an "up-or-out" mentality like the big 4, and I think for me that's actually a bad thing - it's not a very motivating place to work.
@sc3 I'm guessing way less perks than deloitte in terms of paying for your phone, fitness subsidies, pto, etc. but does the salary bump when you move firms make it worth it?
@sc3 and does the work life balance actually mean predictable 40-45 hour weeks?
@op our OE practice does really well at slalom. Some of the smartest people i have worked w come from that practice.
Now as to your question. Our skillset in this space ranges from doing the same low level communications plan stuff you would do at big 4, to a whole sale people and skill strategy to doing cool stuff in support of an ops strategy.
The best opportunities go to people who show initiative and some serious skills.
But make sure you ask each person that you interview w as this varies from office to office
@SC4 this has been extremely helpful!! Can you tell me more about their s&o branch, heard some negative things about it but wanted to also get your perspective
@OP Which market are you considering? Slalom is drastically different in each city.
@sc3 LA
S&O in general is our smallest group...for tge most part the group is still determining the role ot wants to play. If you have a strong sense of what strategy or operations strategy should be then you will be well positioned to create the groups destiny.
The quality of people in S&O varies from pretty epic to meh by city. I dont have any insight into LA but i would check out linkedin and check to see where people came from.
@PWC To SC4's point, technology consulting = Cloud, Programing, User experience / digital, and Salesforce. Half of the consultants work in that space. Lots of programmers and Salesforce architects. Wicked smart guys (and gals), but make no mistake, Slalom is primarily a technology consulting firm. Analytics / Data, OE, PM, and S&O collectively account for the other half of the firm, which the largest slice being project management, which we refer to as "delivery leadership."
SC3 why do u think DT is better and what didn't you like about slalom? Were you in their s&o branch?
I love it at Slalom, but I came from industry. No experience at the big 4.
Why do y'all say so? What did you not like about Slalom?
SC3 how is the human cap team doing at slalom? Better than the s&o? If it's not true s&o work, what work are u doing when u get out in there?
@OP I'm not S&O at Slalom. Most markets do not have an S&O offering. No S&O staff, no S&O projects. By and large, Slalom is a technology consulting firm, and approximately half of the staff fall into that group.
@sc3 if you don't mind me asking, what slalom office are u in?
@sc3 how are the exit options? I'm guessing you're thinking of leaving soon?
@sc3 and@ sc1 if you wanted to go to a top b school as an option later on, would slalom hurt you bc it's not the biggest name?
I thought they mostly took folks who had 4-5 years of experience
Glad you're coming back SC3 👏
