Hi, I been working for Lloyds Bank for almost 9 years now , I recently attended a interview for Barclays and offered an Senior Business Analyst AVP role in Wealth and private banking area. I did not see much difference in the salary offered and it is pretty much same ie 68.5k.But the difference is current role is London based, however the Barclays one is based in Glasgow where cost of living is less in comparison. I am unable to decide whether to take the offer or not..any suggestions will be helpful pls.

Correct. Our MBA hires are our lowest rung of consultants.
BA program is not client-facing and I wouldn't recommend, although BA1 I am sorry to hear you're not having a good time.
From what I understand they generally only hire more experienced consultants, good luck though because with a referral, anything is possible !
If you only have 2 years of WE (and assuming no MBA) then you would probably be considered for our business analyst program, which I am currently in and don’t recommend. This company is only good at the post-MBA level (if not even further), so I would stay away for now.
This is the best place to be a experienced hire. However, We simply don’t have the processes for new hires with no industry or consulting experience.
Hmmm - so when would be the best time to apply assuming no MBA? I noticed that VPs need a minimum of 3 years WE, but that seems awfully low to me for that title. What’s more realistic?
We have a Consultant title that’s also pre-MBA, but that’s almost exclusively reserved for people that go through this BS business analyst program, so very unlikely for you. VPs pretty much all have an MBA. Don’t apply if you don’t have one.
VP is our second lowest title, but since I've never met a consultant (our lowest level), VPs are considered to be junior. That's what our MBAs come in at. We use banking levelling.
I would apply 4-5 years out. Why do you want to come to Alix? Plenty of other consulting firms to look at as well.
That’s because there’s currently only one Consultant in all of North America and around 10 in Europe
Our practice has the same issue - very top heavy. Think of an inverse pyramid. Unfortunately for me, being a manager is more like being a very experienced associate. Our boutique firm only seems to have the issue in my silo, which may be industry dependent. I’m still not sure as to why we operate this way.
It is very defeating to have a handful of associates and dozens of partners and senior partners (we have different titles - this is just to simplify the comparison). Casually looking to find a better option...had 2 true interviews in nearly 10 months. In addition, external hires are continuously brought in at the top, widening the gap and my odds of promotion.
The difference with my firm is that the 5 or 6 different practices do not operate in that manner - only ours. I would not have any issue with it if it was firm wide. Or if we actually had significant organic growth/promotions. Unfortunately, neither is true. I did the math to make sure I wasn’t perceiving things incorrectly. We have an average between the three highest employee classifications of 60-70% external hires. I believe AlixPartners actually promotes its employees quite a bit.
