Some - I think it depends on the area. In my experience, they are closing programs. The public sees it as a lost of interest, but it is really a lack of new teachers. I know of one district in my area that offered a sign-on bonus; and no, it wasn't me!
Ours doesn’t, but robotics teams have stipends, and I do get paid for summer work time (wasn’t in prior school).
They are in Northeast Wisconsin, I'm not sure about other areas of the state.
We have stipends for the extra work involved in our competitive organization. Also, since we come out of the workforce to teach, our district offers up to 10 years work experience as teaching years.
Tech is extremely popular in NY, it is perfect fit for engineering with design and build capabilities. Project lead the way has been a great help teaching. New set of computer science/ coding tech teachers rising also. I am an architect that went into teaching tech but I have heard it’s hard to find teachers.
If only!
Ha! Our district penalizes new CTE instructors with a 10% salary deduction until they obtain their Standard Certificate. As if taking a pay cut from Industry wasn’t enough.
No stipend. But I have an associates degree and get paid for a bachelor's. My county in Tennessee has hit a nice little groove with CTE shop type teachers. Outside of bus duty and teaching our classes, the administration pretty much leaves us alone. We have well equipped shops and good budgets. This career is way less work and lower stress than the welding, machining, construction, and engineering industries we left. That being said, I wouldn't say no to a bonus.
