What’s your title at Deloitte right now? In my experience, biotechs promote fast especially if you’re valuable so SM to D is defs possible. Check their structure. Do they have an AD role?
In terms of negotiating, they can’t afford to lose you but you have to show your worth to get the promo. Talk through your goals now and see what they say. I’ve been open about mine and I found biotechs to be very receptive to work with my goals once they’re convinced I’ll put my best foot forward.
Don’t do it. There’s a ton of Director jobs out there
Get an offer on paper first and then you evaluate.
SM is fair for your current title, but tbh you can just wait for Manager and bide your time for biotech D unless the comp is that good.
Everyone’s going to give you the spin that you’re X away from Director. Don’t fall for it.
I’m a senior consultant. The progression is SM -> D (no AD) at this company! I have a meeting with hiring manager to discuss exactly that! Is it worth bringing up salary with the hiring manager too? Thanks for your advice.
SM to D is fair in my opinion and achievable within 1-2 years. If this is aligned with your long term goals, then go for it. I’d worry less about titles and more about long term progression.
Salary is fair game. My suggestion would be to let the hiring manager open with an offer and see where it lands. If it’s aligned with expectations, then negotiate up. If it’s totally off/involves a pay cut, you have to negotiate harder.
Thanks! I’m up for M promo this upcoming year
OK in that case unless you hate your job, I’d stay at Deloitte
